We all know just how unsettling it can be to change schools and those who have experienced this, know only too well, the feelings of anxiety as you enter a classroom full of strangers. Some kids seem to take this in their stride, while others find it very stressful to make new friends and if your son or daughter is nearing pre-school age, here are just a few reasons to send them to a K-12 school.
- Uninterrupted Schooling – The most obvious benefit is that your child can study at the same school from Kindergarten to Year 12, thus avoiding the trauma of starting a new school. Most children have to ensure at least 3 different schools throughout their 12 years of formal education and this can have serious consequences for learning. There is, for example, a very good South Bangkok international secondary school that accepts students from the age of 3 upwards and they are well-situated for easy access.
- Develop Lasting Relationships with Teachers and Other Students – Studying at a K-12 school means your child can develop relationships with the teachers, staff and other students. This is a major advantage and when your son or daughter leaves Year 12, they will have formed many deep and meaningful relationships that will stay with them for their entire life. Going to school is much nicer when you know everyone and that will always be the case when you study at a K-12 school.
- Cost-Effective – When you change schools, there are many expenses involved, what with a totally different school uniform, not to mention all the books and PE clothing you have to buy. Of course, as your child grows, you will need to replace school garments, but studying at a K-12 school does keep costs down to an acceptable level. If you consider a student might change schools at kindergarten, primary and secondary school, that’s 3 separate changes, which would be very expensive.
- Minimum Travelling Time – If the K-12 school is close to your home, then your child will never have to endure the rush hour traffic, which can be very stressful for the child. Besides, no one wants to be in a car for any longer than necessary.
